Hello GVST Families,

It’s one week from the start of the season. Here are a few more things we wanted to share.

Swimsuits

• For swim meets, swimmers must wear either a Team Suit or an all black competition-style suit. Team suits from previous seasons are acceptable.
• Team Suits are now available for purchase from the CAS website. Use Team Code GVST
  • Competitive Aquatic Supply will be at the pool on the first day (March 28) with team suits for swimmers to try on for sizing, but not purchase.
  • Or, you can try on & purchase suits at CAS’ Huntington Beach store.
• For swim practice, swimmers must wear a competition-style suit.
  • For boys, this means a jammer or brief.
  • For girls, this means a one-piece.
  • It’s OK to wear a team suit to practice, but most swimmers have a separate suit for practice.

Equipment

• Swimmers must wear goggles for both practice and meets.
  • Purchase a three pack at Costco or Target for when they break or get lost.
• We encourage use of a swim cap.
  • Have a spare for when your swimmer’s cap breaks or gets lost.
• Towels
  • Cheap, thin towels work best.
  • Swimmers get in/out of the pool several times during meets.
  • Bring 1 towel to practice and 3-4 towels to meets. 
• Parkas, backpacks, and other equipment on the CAS webpage are optional.

Practice shifts from afternoons to mornings on June 27th. This Summer, we are offering an evening session from 6-7pm for swimmers who have junior guards or other conflicts in the morning. Participation in the evening session is limited and subject to approval by Coach Adam.

Team Handbook

Please read over our team handbook, to make sure you and your children understand expectations for parents and swimmers. We want to make sure that everyone is safe and has fun this season!

New Family Referral

Please share the attached flier with friends/family, post it at your preschool/church, and help us recruit more swimmers. We will deduct one volunteer job from your five jobs for every new family that you refer to the team. Offer does not apply retroactively.

New Parent Night

New Parent Night / Ice Cream Social is Thursday March 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adult Clubhouse, 17250 Los Jardines West. It is MANDATORY for new parents. We will discuss all aspects of the season, practice & meets while your kids eat free ice cream in the park with our coaches.
