Kickoff Dinner & Dolphin Classic
Hi GVST Families,
Friday, May 20th, Kickoff Dinner
There is no practice on Friday May 20th. Instead, come have dinner with GVST swimmers, families and coaches in the greenbelt outside the GV Adult Clubhouse.
It is important that every family RSVP. Go here and click the green RSVP button on the right side of the page to let us know how many people in your family are attending so we know how many burgers to buy.
GVST is is providing free burgers and the Kickoff Dinner is open to your whole family. We’re asking families to donate other items to share depending on the first letter of your last name:
A-F: Chips
G-L: Side Dish
M-S: Dessert
T-Z: Beverages
We need 3-4 parents to help grill burgers before/during the dinner. Please reply to let me know if you are willing to help.
Saturday, May 21st, Dolphin Classic
If your swimmer is participating in the swim meet, you must SIGN THEM IN by Wednesday (5/18). Here are instructions for signing in your swimmers.
Our first meet of the year is an intrasquad, with GVST split into Green & Blue teams. This meet helps everyone get ready for upcoming meets against other teams.
Swimmer check-in begins at 7:30am. Lane-lineup volunteers should check in by 7:15am, and volunteers for most other roles should check in by 7:30. (Set-up should arrive by 6:00, and food booth by 6:45.) For check-in, look for the EZ-ups with GVST signs on the greenbelt, right outside of the pool.
We rely on volunteers to run our team and our meets. Please make sure you are aware of your volunteer jobs, (instructions are here for finding your jobs online), and arrive on time. If you have hired a teenager to work, email the teen volunteer’s name to the meet managers at [email protected], have $60 cash in an envelope with his or her name, and give the envelope to one of the meet managers. Please do not Venmo the teen worker before he or she works the shift. If you do not show up or get your job covered by a teen, there will be a $100 fine.
For those of you for whom this will be your first swim meet, here is one mother’s advice regarding getting your family ready for a swim meet. This note has helped many families over the years in preparing for their first swim meet.
All swimmers will receive a free slice of pizza and a capri sun at this year’s Dolphin Classic. For everyone else, our fantastic food booth team will be selling breakfast burritos, donuts, coffee, nachos, pizza, hot dogs, drinks and more. The food booth accepts both cash and cards.
See you at the pool, Scott
